Before writing goals

My goals for this writing is to Stop going from past to present like my previous writing. Check grammar (because I use commas when they are not needed). Vocabulary ( use vocabulary that native English writers use). I will try and use different languages to show how the name of the food is said in the country where it is from. My genre is descriptive and my targeted audience are people who love tasting new food or people how are interested in knowing about different cultures.

Food In Different Cultures

Have you ever thought why each country has different traditional food?  Well throughout this essay I will be talking about the difference between food and why it is different. The difference between food comes from various reasons like cultures, traditions, influences from neighboring countries, and the ability to produce the food. Each country has their specialty in food for example; Egypt have their own food like Koshary, Gibna Domiati, and Falafel. India has a completely different  choice of food like chicken masala, Chicken tandory, and butter chicken. Japan has a different selection of food like sushi, rice bowl, and miso soup. Every country will have their traditional food different than others or even the same but with their own added recopies.

In Egypt the taste of  food is the most important thing to an Egyptian. That’s why if anyone opens a business that involves food and tastes good (not even delicious) it always succeeds. The traditional food in Egypt is what makes Egypt different from the other countries around.

http://www.daringgourmet.com/2013/02/21/koshari-national-dish-of-egypt/Koshary (كشري) (pronounced the same) is one of the most famous dishes out of all the Egyptian food due to its delicious taste and availability in Egypt; in every street there has to be one or two كشري shops or even carts. Koshary is made of macaroni, lentils, rice and chickpeas these are the simple ingredients that are needed to make كشري. كشري now is being introduced into the Middle East, people over there love it, I know that because my Father lives in Qatar, Egyptian restaurants are opening up everywhere in the Middle East and the U.S.

Gibna Domiati (يدمياط جبنة ) pronounced (gibna dom-ya-ty) is a type of cheese that is made in the suburbs of north Egypt. The يدمياط جبنة is famous for its softness and creamy taste. It’s made from buffalo milk or cow milk or sometimes a mixture of both and its aged, usually its one to three years old before it is canned; the older يدمياط جبنة gets the better the taste.

Falafel (فلافل), also known as tameya pronounced (taa-me-ya) (طعمية), is the most famous Egyptian food due to the fact it’s delicious. It is either eaten alone or in a sandwich mixed with tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and hot pepper. طعمية looks weird due to the fact that it is green from the inside, what makes it green is that it is made from cilantro, parsley, dried chickpeas, garlic, and cumin these ingredients are what make the perfect Egyptian طعمية. طعمية  is the best Egyptian dish to have for breakfast, it is so common to eat for dinner. It impossible for a week to pass by without an Egytian eating the dish. Egyptian food taste incredible and for that reason other Arab countries try to mimic the food but with their own added ingredients. Not all countries have the same preference of taste of their food.

On the other side of the world India is known for their unique types of food. Nearly all their food have one thing in common, curry. Indians are in love with curry they have it on almost all their dishes whether  its chicken, beef, rice or even soups.

This dish is the best chicken dish I have ever eaten in my life the chicken is juicy and full of flavor of the sauce.

Another famous dish India has is chicken masala (चिकन मसाला) (Cikana masālā)  which is Chicken marinated in yogurt, spices and then served in a tomato cream sauce. The best thing about this dish is that the chicken is juicy and you can feel the taste of all the ingredients that are in the dish. Indian restaurants are available in nearly every city in the world now due there tasty food and how most of the people like to eat the food.  While on the North east of India Japan have a completely different choice of the food they eat.

http://15pictures.com/wp-content/gallery/15-pictures-sushi/sushi-7.jpgJapanese cuisines are one of the most famous cuisines  in the world right now.  The main reason is sushi (寿司) pronounced (sushi), even though if someone is thinking about it, it’s just raw fish with rice, but actually that simple dish is famous for its remarkable taste.  寿司 is fish, eel, chicken, squid or shrimp with rice that is cooked with a little bit of vinegar. Served with the dish is wasabi and soya sauce to dip the 寿司 into which makes it taste even better.

shrimp-tempura-rice-bowl-18177571Another famous Japanese dish is the rice bowl (ライスボウル) pronounced (Rai-su-bōru) which is sticky rice that is mixed with one’s favorite type of meat or fish. The rice is sushi rice that is soaked with water before being cooked and drained for an hour. The important part is the rice not the actual meat, the rice has to be perfect like every other thing in Japan.

http://www.japanesefoodreport.com/photos/misosoup1.JPGIn every Japanese cuisine there must be miso soup (味噌汁) (pronounced Misoshiru) in their menu. 味噌汁 is the most famous Japanese soup that consists of dashi (dried bonito tuna flakes), red miso, white miso, and scallion (green onions). The 味噌汁 is a refreshing starter to eat right before a main dish because it is light and extremely delicious.

In conclusion, each country has their different food due to tradition, culture or what they are able to produce.  I have eaten all the food mentioned above and now it’s time for me to review each of them. First off Egyptian food, the koshary is an delicious dish, try the sauce just makes the dish so amazing that I always eat more than my stomach can handle. Gibna Domiati is the best cheese I like to eat in my breakfast due to its softness and creamy taste, we always have to have gibna domiati in our home we never run out of it. Falafel is the most important dish for an Egyptian to eat for breakfast or dinner, epically on Friday for some reason. Falafel is very tasteful in a sandwich epically with a sauce called tehena  (تهنا) I don’t know how to explain how it tastes like because there is no similar dish in the world like falafel that I have eaten, it’s so unique that McDonalds serves it in some countries it’s called McFalafel. Now moving from Egyptian food and going to Indian food. Indian food are very attractive epically the chicken masala and the chicken tandory. I like both dishes because they do not contain curry, I hate curry because it smells really bad. Curry is the reason why I never go to Indian restaurants, because the resturants always smells like curry and makes my dining experience really awful. Chicken masala and tandory both have juicy chicken and make me have that feeling that you just want to eat  more of it epically when eaten with Indian rice. I saved the best for last, to me Japanese food is the best in the world due to their simplicity and how delicious they taste. Sushi is my favorite of all dishes in the world, I never go to a sushi place that isn’t all you can eat, the reason is that I always eat a lot of sushi and my bill at the end is always high. The best Sushi I ever ate was in Disneyland, Orlando where they had restaurants from most countries like England, Japan, China, Lebanon and the U.S. I only eat sushi that contains salmon, shrimp or sometimes squid they taste like nothing else in the world. Always before eating my sushi I have to start out with my miso soup because it light and delicious starter before the main dish. The lesson learned from what I tasted in each different type of food is that the food that a country eats shows the lifestyle and the quality of life of the people the food originated from. For example sushi and miso soup are healthy food that are not fattening which exactly describes Japanese people, the majority of them have lean bodies and live a healthy life. Meanwhile Egyptian food is very tasty but does not have any health benefits and are very fattening which exactly describes the Egyptian people most of the people don’t live a healthy life style, a majority are overweight especially adults, plus Egyptians are very picky about the taste of the food they eat. ” A man of great common sense and good taste” (Shaw, brainyqoutes.com)

After Writing

I think I have accomplished my goals by using different languages for each food and writing it to show how it is written in that language. I have made my essay very eye catching by adding images of the food which makes the reader hungry and tempted to try out the food :) . I feel like a did a great job in my introduction by giving a brief overview of what i will be writing about in the following paragraphs. I have tried to make my transitions between paragraphs create a smooth transition between the paragraphs. I think my grammar and vocabulary are way better than my previous project.

  1. This made me sooooo hungry. I love the rice bowl and the sushi from Japan. I am Korean and Cuban and I love all the different flavors I get from each country’s traditional dishes. From Cuba, I love ropa vieja, its a shredded beef dish in a creole sauce. I also love kimchi which is eaten a lot in Korea.

  2. The revisions are so much better than the first draft! I love how each food comes with a mouth watering picture! It seems like you have traveled a lot and aren’t afraid to try new things!
